WORKSHOP 46 13-22/07/2022 UMUT ALTINTAŞ , GİZEM HIZ
YAHŞİBEY DESIGN WORKSHOPS 46
Color Portraits: Yahşibey Color Book Workshop
46th Yahşibey Design Workshop focuses on the colors of Yahşibey. In this workshop, we will discuss colors through cultural, historical, physiological, psychological and conceptual contexts and will be doing a color study specific to Yahşibey by observing the environmental structure and nature of the village. During the 10-day workshop, each participant will design printed or handmade pages (book parts) of their own observations and productions, which will be bound in Yahşibey Color Book.
The colour areas that will be explored in the workshop can be reproduced from a general selection of the village -living or non-living- (such as soil type, the record of the sky during the day, plants, animals, biological structures of people, houses, stones, etc.) to further detailed examination. Color observations can also be evaluated from two perspectives; concrete and abstract: Concrete: visible, objective data. Abstract: conceptual observations based on stories and thoughts. Therefore, color productions can be diversified according to the basis of research and discovery: Photographing, painting, digital production, material collection, transferring an observation in writing, etc.
At the end of the workshop, Color Portraits: Yahşibey Color Book, which include a deep and comprehensive color research and production on Yahşibey, will take its place as a niche archive on the library shelves of the studio.
Note: Considering the color work and book production, workshop participants should bring their personal materials (computer, camera, paint materials, notebook, special coloring paper, etc.) with them. Except for handmade productions, digitally designed pages will be printed at the digital printing center in Dikili.
Other details about the camp will be sent to the participants via e-mail.
